Old Grandma was entertaining a group of nieces and nephews just back from high school. They were bright youngsters and often tested their grandmother, because she could come up with unusual answers. On this ocassion,Tom began to tease her by asking,"Grandma,do you still go to church on Sundays?" "Of course!" "What do you get out of it?"Can you tell us the Gospel was last Sunday?" "No,I've forgotten. All I remember is that I liked it." "Alright,What did the preist preach about?" "I can't remember.I'm getting old and my memory is gone. All I remember is that he preached an inspiring sermon.I liked it." "But look grandma,"teased Tom,"what good is it to keep going to church if you get nothing out of it?" Grandma seemed stopped by this remark and she sat there pulling her pipe...and the rest of the students were embarassed. Then she got up off the floor, where they had all been sitting, and said,"You kids come along with me in the kitchen." When they arrived there, she took her stringbag off a nail in the wall, gave it to Tom and said,"Take this down to the stream, fill it with water and bring it back." "Grandma, are you kidding? Water in a stringbag!! Oh come on,is this a kind of joke?",argued Tom. "No you just do as you're told,Tom. I want to show you something. So Tom raced off and within a few minutes was back with a dripping stringbag."See,grandma, there's no water in it." "That's right,"she said."But look how nice and clean it is now. Kids, you never go to church without gaining something good - even if you don't know about it."

Post your jokes here and let us all have a good laugh!!!

Let me be the first one...

ON LIGHTER MOOD!

An illiterate woman boarded a plane from Enugu to Abuja in Nigeria. She was booked for an economy class seat.

Just after the plane took off, the woman stood up and went to sit in the first class cabin. The flight attendant went to ask her to go back and sit in economy class because that is where her ticket allowed her to sit but she refused. She had paid and wanted the best seat.

Then the attendant informed the jnr pilot. The jnr pilot went and spoke with the lady and she still refused. Then the jnr pilot went to inform the chief pilot. The chief pilot said, 'I am married to an illiterate, I'll go and talk to her'. The chief pilot went and whispered some words to the woman and she peacefully stood up and went to her economy class seat.

The attendant and jnr pilot surprisingly asked, 'sir what did you tell her'. The chief pilot said: 'Easy guys, I just told her that first class is not going to Abuja, only economy class is!!!'

1. When your beloved S.O. (Significant Other) starts to hide stuffs from U. Maybe simple things such as : a secret mail account, a secret yahoo identity, "wrong number" calls at random times FROM THE SAME NUMBER from a supposedly "male/female" caller who just happen to have a very feminine/masculine voice.
2. When S. O. finds your conversation boring or "stupid".
3. When S. O. finds the company much exciting than yours and finds ways to be "alone" rather than be with U.
4. When S.O. finds silly excuses to end a conversation.
5. When S.O. starts getting into new habits.
6. When things that used to set U both "on fire", romantically speaking, starts to get really annoying.
6. When S.O. just refuses to listen to U anymore.
7. When S. WHEN EVERY SIMPLE DISCUSSION TURNS INTO A REAL FLAMING ARGUMENT.

These are just to name a FEW.. when all these start to manifest...FIND A NEW S.O.
MARRIAGE IS A GOD’S GIFT TO US
FAMILY LIFE is under pressure. Commitment to life – long marriage
is still the only stable basis for our relationships.

The Lord GOD said, “ It is not good for a man to be alone.
I will make a helper suitable for him.”(Gen. 2:18)
GOD created man in His own image, in the image of GOD he created him; male and female he created them. GOD blessed them and said, be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it!”(Gen. 1:27-28)

Building the Family
Strong marriages are built on the love of Jesus. My command is this; LOVE each other as I have loved you.(John 15:12) Husbands love your wives as your own body. He who loves his wife loves himself. After all, no one ever hated his own body, but feeds and cares for it. Each one must love his wife and wife must respect and love her husband.(Ephesians 5:28-33)

Each partner has a responsibility to make the marriage strong
1. Respect – not rights. Both should look not only to your own interest but also to the interest of others. The husband should fulfill marital duty to his wife, and likewise the wife to her husband. The wife’s body does not belong to her alone but also to her husband. In the same way the husband’s body does not belong to him alone but also his wife.(1Cor. 7:3-4)

2. Forgiveness – not resentment. In your anger do not sin. Do not let the sun go down while you are still angry. Get rid of all bitternes, rage and anger, brawling, slander and malice. Be kind and compassionate to one another. Forgiving each other, just as Christ forgave you.(Ephesians 4:26,31-32)

3. Love – not anger .Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails. (1Cor. 13:4-8)

Marriage is a special relationship
It is built on a complete faithfulness to each other.
It is GOD’s will that you should be holy; that you should avoid sexual immorality; that each should learn to live with his own wife in a way that is holy and honourable.
Since in this world, there is so much immorality, each man should have his own wife, and each woman her own husband.(1Cor.7:2)

Marriage is for life
In GOD’s sight, a married woman is bound to her husband as long as he is alive.
But if her husband dies, she is released from the law of marriage. So then, if she marries another man while her husband is alive, she is called an adulteress.Divorce has never been part of GOD’s best for us.

Healing the wounds
Married life may have its difficult patches. To admit this is not a failure. Breakdown is not inevitable because with GOD there is always hope. He can strengthen us to
face the situation. GOD said, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.
We know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. And hope does not disappoint us, because GOD has poured his LOVE into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, whom He has given us. (Romans 5:3-5)

A fresh start is possible
If you, Oh Lord, kept a record of sins. O Lord, who could stand? But with you, there is forgiveness. (Psalm 130:3-4)
Jesus said; “Come to me all who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light,”(Matthew 11:28-30)

Parents and Children
Children are gift from GOD – special in His sight. The Bible gives advice for bringing them up.
Discipline is important. Discipline your children while they are young enough to learn. If you don’t, you are helping them to destroy themselves. Teach a child how he should live, and he will remember it all his life.(Prov.22:6)
Fathers do not exasperate your children. Discipline your son and daughter and you can always be proud of them. They will never gave you reason to be ashamed.
Children also have responsibilities. As children have their rights, they have also their responsibilities. Children must obey their parents. Honor your father and mother which is the first commandment with a promise, “that it may go well with you and you may enjoy long life on earth.(Ephesians 6:1-3)

The Family and Prayer
Help is available in all this things. The Christian family can bring everything to GOD in prayer through Jesus Christ.
He taught as how to pray.
Our father in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come.thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us each day our daily bread. Forgive us our sins for we also forgive everyone
who sins against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil one. Amen

Express how you feel about the recent decision to give special travel permits only to OFWs who have been in Nigeria for at least 10 years.

As for myself, I want to give credit to Mrs. Esper Derpo for at least making something happen to help some of our fellow "kababayans" here in Nigeria. She tried her best.

But I'm still one of the newbies here in Nigeria who belong to the less fortunate people who can't still come back to Nigeria peacefully. Like in most oil companies, the boom in the telecoms sector here in Nigeria didn't start 10 years ago, so most of us in the telecom and oil companies have started working in Nigeria from 2002 onwards. That means, the Special Travel Permit cannot be given to us.

I just hope that Pres. GMA and VP Noli has considered this case for the land-based professionals here in Nigeria. It is really unfair to us because our companies has strict rules about travelling to dangerous areas here in the country. We actually have a written policy stating that we are not allowed to go to hot zones especially Niger Delta. We only work in Victoria Island from 8am to 5pm and are accompanied by MOPOLs (Police Escorts) if we need to work in the night around Ikoyi and V.I.

Well, it looks like we are battling our way back here again if we come back from Philippines to visit our families.

It is sad but true...

Are these real?

1. Guys don't actually look after good-looking girls. They prefer neat and presentable girls.

2. Guys hate flirts.

3. A guy can like you for a minute, and then forget you afterwards.

4. When a guy says he doesn't understand you, it simply means you're not thinking the way he is.

5. "Are you doing something?" or "Have you eaten already?"
are the first usual questions a guy asks on the phone just to get out from stammering.

6. Guys may be flirting around all day but before they go to sleep, they always think about the girl they truly care about. (yeah, i like this one!)

7. When a guy really likes, he'll disregard all your bad characteristics.

8. Guys go crazy over a girl's smile.

9. Guys will do anything just to get the girl's attention.

10. Guys hate it when you talk about your ex-boyfriend. (YEAH!! AGREE!!!)

11. When guys want to meet your parents...let them.

12. Guys want to tell you many things but they can't. And they sure have one habit to gain courage and spirit to tell you many things and it is...drinking!

13. Guys cry!!!

14. Don't provoke the guy to heat up...believe me...he will.

15. Guys can never dream and hope too much.

16. Guys usually try hard to get the girl who has dumped them, and this makes it harder for them to accept their defeat.

17. When you touch a guy's heart, there's no turning back. (I think it is called... being married)

18. Giving a guy a hanging message like "You know what...uh...never mind!" would him jump to a conclusion that is far from what you are thinking.

19. Guys go crazy when girls touch their hands.

20. Guys are good flatterers when courting but they usually stammer when they talk to a girl they really like.

21. When a guy makes a prolonged "um"...or makes any excuses when you're asking him to do you a favor, he's actually saying that he doesn't like you and he can't lay down the card for you.

22. When a girl says "no", a guy hears it as "try again tomorrow."

23. You have to tell a guy what you really want before he gets the message clearly.

24. Guys hate gays!

25. Guys love their moms.

26. A guy would sacrifice his money for lunch just to get you a couple of roses.

27. A guy often thinks about the girl who likes him. But this doesn't mean that the guy likes her. (Rock on!)

28. You can never understand him unless you listen to him.

29. If a guy tells you he loves you once in a lifetime...he does.

30. Beware. Guys can make gossips scatter through half of the face of the earth faster than girls can. (Even without the power of internet)

31. Like Eve...girls are guy's weaknesses.

32. Guys are very open about themselves.

33. It's good to test a guy first before you believe him. But don't let him wait that long.

34. No guy is bad when he is courting.

35. Guys hate it when their clothes get dirty...even a small dot.

36. Guys really admire girls that they like even if they're not that much pretty.

37. Your best friend, whom your boyfriend seeks help from about his problems with you, may end up being admired by your boyfriend.

38. If a guy tells you about his problems, he just needs someone to listen to him. You don't need to give advice.

39. A usual act that proves that the guy likes you is when he teases you.

40. A guy finds ways to keep you off from linking with someone else.

41. Guys love girls with brains more than girls in mini-skirts.

42. Guys try to find the stuffed toy a girl wants but would unluckily get the wrong one.

43. Guys virtually brag about anything.

44. Guys cannot keep secrets that girls tell them.

45. Guys think too much.

46. Guys' fantasies are unlimited.

47. Girls' height doesn't really matter to a guy but...her weight does!

48. Guys tend to get serious with their relationship and become too possessive...so watch out girls!!!

This is a MUST READ before you post on the FilNaija board.

While we encourage open and active discourse and debates in this forum, we must still maintain respect for the opinions and views of others. Proper etiquette will allow us all to fully enjoy this board. In other words, live and let live!

Here are a few things to keep in mind before posting:

1. Please refrain from cursing or insulting others. Respecting others is tantamount to earning respect from others.

2. Keep your arguments clean and logical. We don't want any mudslinging and flaming going on here as it affects everyone.

3. Please avoid TYpInG LYk DiS and refrain from using text shortcuts. That way, everyone will have an easier time reading the posts.

4. Incidents of harassments towards other members are taken very seriously and should be reported immediately to the assigned moderator of the board and/or administrator. Appropriate action will be taken after investigation of the said incident.

5. Posts should be relevant to the category which it is contained in. Posting off-topic will result in your messages being moved, locked, or worse, deleted.

6. Please avoid flooding posts as it will cause everyone to suffer in terms of the boards' performance. Flooders who posts non-sense messages could very well get their accounts banned.

7. Some topics that are posted might be controversial or offensive to the sensibilities of some. If you feel strongly against such topics, post a counter-statement or retort. Let's remember to respect the views of others!

8. Please keep attached pictures small since posting unnecessarily large pictures will ruin the layout of the site and slow down the loading of pages for other posters. Please limit your signatures to 150 pixels (height) by 500 pixels (width) COMBINED for both text and images. This means that if the image occupies only 100 pixels in height but there is an accompanying 5 lines of text which pushes the total beyond 150 pixels, it will be disallowed. Be considerate of other's bandwidth as some of us are still connected via dial-up.

9. Avoid posting contact numbers (cell, landline, etc) of any member, non-member, celebrity, non-celebrity here. Since this is an open forum, doing so might leave the victim open to harassment. Let us respect the privacy of others.

10. FilNaija.com does not guarantee the identity/credibility of our members in any way. Please make an effort to personally check the background of the individuals you meet through this board thoroughly before engaging in any high risk business dealings. We will not be held liable for any physical/emotional/financial damages resulting in these personal dealings.

11. FilNaija.com reserves the right to delete posts and suspend/ban users who post content that are suspected or have been found to violate copyright laws. Please avoid copying and pasting content into the FilNaija.com, whether it be images, audio or articles without express written consent from the copyright owner.

Thank you.

-FilNaija Team
